: “Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.” as stated by The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL).  www.casel.org

Teachers are expected to provide the SEL instruction. However, how can teachers provide this without first going through the process of self-actualization. Teachers are human and must first prepare themselves before preparing others. Teacherhood: Exploring the JOY of Teaching will start the process of self-reflection, metacognition, and introspection leading to self-actualization for educators.
